Sidewinder Project

Over the last few years I have been building up a kit of parts which will enable me to build another Beach Buggy, I already have a floorpan which will need shortening, a shell, a gearbox and back end assembly, a front beam, parts to convert the brakes to discs, seats, lights, steering column and wheel, speedo, all the cables, some nice cannon exhausts and a set of alloys. So as you can see majority of the bits I already have, the only thing I'm lacking is time, Hopefully I'll start this build next summer and have it running by 2011.

As you can all see its still in early stages but more photo's will be available to view as progress goes on.

I'm planning to include a few different features in this car. I would tell you what they are but you'll just have to wait and see.  So after a short trip across the river and down to retrobuggies in Maidstone, Kent. I've progressed the Sidewinder into something what is looking quite promising. Craig has strenghtened my pan, fabricated the rollcage, that is completely removable from the chassis. Changed the framehead as the old one looked like a net curtain after sandblasting. Here's a few pics of the progress Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket After careful consideration and a few mathematical sums, I decided that it was financially better for myself to order a brand new Sidewinder Shell. I did manage to get a very good deal. The next question was what colour? Well after about 30 seconds of thought a shade of British Racing Green as decided on and then promptly ordered. I thought it would be about 4 weeks until collection but it was actually 2 days later when the shell was ready for collection. I made arrangements with my friend Aaron and we collected the shell between Christmas and New Year. The pictures show how we transported the shell and the shell loosely fitted to the chassis Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket I soon set to work in getting the chassis painted and ready to mount the body. First I started with the a cost of etch primer Photobucket Photobucket I also painted the Beam, trailing arms, and rear brake drums and backing plates Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket The gearbox got cleaned up and painted in Gloss Black too. Your a nosey little so and so aren't you, your even reading all the small prints that most corporate sites have written at the bottom of your screen all the time, this site is no different. It has these little words at the bottom that nobody can really read or understand. The only difference is theirs is a load of legal rubbish and mine is just humouring their words. I suppose I should really mention a few bit of legal stuff. So here we go then. Some of the images on this website may well have been stolen form other sites. For this I thank the sites for providing me the literature to use. Many thanks, you work hard so I dont have to. This saved me lots of time when publishing this site.
