The chairman of the SDBC received an e-mail plea from a production company who were working alongside the BBC, they were enquiring about the use of a Blue Beach Buggy to be used in a futuristic SCi-Fi come comic book action drama. I put a few pictures of my Blue GP forward along with a few others Buggies and thought no more of it. Then out of the blue I got a phonecall from Sue at the BBC who said she wanted the use of the car. We agreed a price, dates and also insurance terms. The only snag was it was in Glasgow and i'm based about 800miles from Glasgow. I promptly roped a friend in and borrowed his tow car and trailer and off we went. Our journey had been planned to perfection, we delibratly reversed the car on the trailer for better balance of weight, we planned the journey to avoid any rush hour traffic build ups. This all meant leaving at 4am so we could clear Birmingham before traffic was too bad. We planned to arrive in Glasgow at around midday. Sure enough everything went to plan, when we arrived we were asked how the journey was. we both explained it was good except the rain, it had tipped it down from Essex to Liverpool. The moment of truth for the production company was when we tried to start it. The car just would not fire so we had to push start it. I started pushing with my friend in the drivers seats. He turned it over and nothing, so we tried numerous times, then all of sudden it sprang into life it also pushed all the water it had collected in the cannon exhausts all over me....Soaked. So there I was in Glasgow looking like i've wet myself with no spare clothes it was another 8 hours to get home.

Phoo Action Trailer

However the car performed its duties well along side a Rolls Royce and a Lancia Stratos. They only ever made one episode of the drama and the BBC Shelved the idea of more.

The drama was based on a comic strip drawn by artist Jamie Hewlett who provides the characters for the band Gorillaz. The comic strip was Catch the Freebies and the programme was Phoo Action

Your a nosey little so and so aren't you, your even reading all the small prints that most corporate sites have written at the bottom of your screen all the time, this site is no different. It has these little words at the bottom that nobody can really read or understand. The only difference is theirs is a load of legal rubbish and mine is just humouring their words. I suppose I should really mention a few bit of legal stuff. So here we go then. Some of the images on this website may well have been stolen form other sites. For this I thank the sites for providing me the literature to use. Many thanks, you work hard so I dont have to. This saved me lots of time when publishing this site.
